15-17 September 2014, York, UK. Conference website.
Previously mainly an industry conference, a change this year is to encourage applied presentations from academics and students. To help with this there is a cheap rate (£150) for PhD students and university researchers. We encourage you to attend.
The winner of the prize, awarded for clarity of presentation content, and delivery, went to Chris Lusty from the University of Bath, presenting his PhD topic ‘Novel Topologies for Active Vibration Management in Flexible Rotors’. The judges felt he was the most successful at conveying his message in the 4 minutes allowed. He beat off stiff competition from 24 other presenters representing 10 Universities.
Three runners-up, highly commended for their presentations were
· Samuel Bemment (Loughborough, ‘REPOINT Phase 2’),
· Sam Jimenez (Bath, ‘Rotor-mounted sensing and actuation for Smart Rotating Machines’),
· Nick Wright (Loughborough, ‘Condition monitoring for a neutral beam heating system’).
